Ticks live in trees, grass, and shrubs and you are likely to encounter them from April to September since they usually prefer warmer months. If you spend time outdoors in wooded or grassy areas in the north-eastern and upper-Midwestern part of the U.S. you are more at risk of being bitten by a black-legged tick, also called deer tick.
Lyme Disease Symptoms
• Flu-like symptoms, including chills and nausea
• Painful headaches
• Stiffness in your neck

• Shooting pains
• Excessive tiredness or fatigue

If you find yourself with a fever or rash after having a tick bite, we encourage you to schedule a visit at the office of John Abroon, MD. You will need to answer some questions about your symptoms and will need to bring in a list of your symptoms and medical history. You will want to tell him where and when you were bitten and where you would have received the bite.
Dr. Abroon will run a complete Lyme and tick bite analysis to assess if you have contracted Lyme disease or another tick-borne illness. You may also have a physical exam and blood tests (such as EIA and Western blot tests) to identify antibodies to the bacteria. If needed, Dr. Abroon may prescribe oral or intravenous antibiotics.
